Make $5,000 a Month with ChatGPT and Other Lies AI Hucksters Will Tell You
And Why I'm Rethinking My Whole Prompt Playbook
I'm kind of done with posts that promise 5 ChatGPT Prompts to Earn $5,000 a Month. And moving forward, I'm going to be more discerning about what I share with you guys every day in my mAIn Street newsletter's PromptCraft section as a result.
Posts like these sell the hype of ChatGPT without any of the substance.
ChatGPT and others like it are not get-rich-quick schemes, and if we continue to treat them as such, then we'll be heading for a jobs cliff that will be downright catastrophic to the human race.
Can you make money with ChatGPT?
Of course you can. Will it be a one-step process? Hells to the no.
I want you guys to think more about what AI tools can do for you right now. Then, I want you to apply it across all your tasks, keep up with the time it's saving you, and then shift your focus to what you should be doing or learning about instead.
An example I shared recently over on Medium broke down how I created 3 Custom GPTs inside of ChatGPT to handle three very specific tasks that would take me, on average, 30 minutes per day, 2 hours a week, for my newsletter.
The GPTs slashed manual involvement by about 90%. So, I'm saving 27 minutes every day, four days a week, 50 weeks a year, on those three tasks.
That's 5,400 minutes per year, or 90 hours. More than two 40-hour workweeks I'm getting back all because I built those GPTs for my specific purposes.
That's the real value in ChatGPT. But it's only valuable if I seize the extra opportunity that it gives me in freeing up that time.
What will I do with it?
What will you do with yours?
This is what we should be asking ourselves if we want to end up on the side of the haves rather than the have-nots when AI's true impact on the job market is finally known.
Because there will be plenty of haves and have-nots, I'm afraid.
Which side do you wanna be on?
5 Steps to Turn Your Reclaimed Hours into Real Progress
Log your “found time” daily. Keep a simple tally—paper, spreadsheet, notes app—and watch the minutes add up. Awareness sparks action.
Batch the boring stuff. Group similar tasks into one window and let your GPTs handle prep or first drafts. It keeps you in control while cutting mental drag.
Invest saved time in a skill that compounds. Pick one: public speaking, data analysis, or deep industry reading. Even 30 minutes a day snowballs fast.
Set a weekly “value-check” meeting with yourself. Ask, Did my AI shortcuts push a key goal forward? If not, tweak the workflow or raise the bar.
Share your wins. Document before-and-after results and teach a teammate. Teaching cements your knowledge and builds workplace cred.
